John Carty is an anthropologist and curator who has worked extensively with Aboriginal artists throughout Central Australia, the Western Desert, Pilbara and Kimberley region. From 2007-2010 he was the principal researcher for the
Canning Stock Route project, and is co-curator of the exhibition Yiwarra Kuju: The Canning Stock Route which has been seen at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra is now on at the Australian Museum in Sydney until April 29th. For more information about the Exhibition

He recently completed a project with the Ngaanyatjarra artists of Central Australia on another book exploring the Aboriginal art history of that region. The companion exhibition, 'Purnu, Tjanpi Canvas: Art of the Ngaanyatjarra Lands' was launched at the Perth International Arts Festival in 2012.
