The artwork in this scarf is by Jakayu Biljabu, and tells the story of Minyipuru Jukurrpa (Seven Sisters Story). It follows the travels of seven sisters as they are chased across the desert of Martu Country by an amorous old man named Yurla.
Yurla followed the sisters from Roebourne on the coast of Western Australia, and at one point during the story he snatches one of the women, but the other sisters trick him and manage to rescue her. Eventually they escape into the sky, taking the form of the seven stars comprising the Pleiades constellation.
This scarf measures 67cm x 133cm and is made of silk satin with hand rolled edges
The scarves come beautifully packaged in a gift box and include details of the artists work.
