Story from the certificate of authenticity:Joanne has painted Tjilka - bindi-eye thorns. These sharp seeds are a feature of the summer landscape. Joanne's expressive style of abstract imagery creates a contemporary interpretation of the small elements that make up the vast and energetic and vibrant landscape.Inspiration for Joanne's work comes from the surrounding traditional country of Fregon on the *APY Lands. Fregon country is a vibrant landscape with long ridges of low sandhills interspersed by flat spinifex and vast, grassy plains. These in turn are criss-crossed by dry creeks lined with river and red gum eucalypts creating a patchwork effect and which flood during heavy rain. Joanne Roberts is from Fregon on the *APY Lands. She works part time at the Kaltjiti Art Centre as she is an AEW at the Fregon School. She is the daughter of well known artist, Kathy Maringka. *Anangu Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara Lands, far north of South Australia.
